"The recent interview of face to face does not relieve our concerns about their original social media post on 2 November," said WTA Chair Steve Simon on Monday.
It is "always nice to see them, be it in an interview or as a viewer at the Olympics," says Simon. "But to repeat our view: Peng Shuai has made a courageous step by blinding to the public, sexually abused by a leading member of the Chinese government."
The WTA once again demanded an investigation of allegations - and to meet Peng Shuai "private".
Peng speaks of "great misunderstanding"
Deutsche President Thomas Bach from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had met on Saturday in the Beijing Olympic Bubble with the Chinese Peng (36), whose case had ensured excitement in front of winter games worldwide. Peng explained in an interview with the French sports day newspaper "L'Équipe", they had dinner with Bach.
Their abuse allegations against a high-ranking Chinese politician in a social network, she continued to say, be "a great misunderstanding". In addition, she had been "never disappeared". But the WTA looks very different, as it has underlined more.
