The Jungle Book (1894) is a collection of stories by the English author Rudyard Kipling. The majority of the characters are animals such as Shere Khan the tiger as well as Baloo the bear, though a major personality is the kid or man-cub Mowgli, who is increased in the jungle by wolves. The stories are established in a forest in India; one place discussed continuously is Seonee (Seoni), in the main state of Madhya Pradesh. A major theme in the book is abandonment adhered to by promoting, as in the life of Mowgli, resembling Kipling's own childhood years.
